She educated at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas. She later earned a BFA diploma from Stephens College in acting and further studied at the British American Drama Academy. Additionally, she spent six years at the well-known Dallas Theatre Center and one year with that theatre's Encore Company. Before making her debut on the big screen, she started her acting career in the theater. In the following sci-fi adventure Frequency (2000) featuring Dennis Quaid and Neil LaBute's eagerly anticipated Nurse Betty (2000) opposite Renee Zellweger, Elizabeth showed her impressive acting abilities. Elizabeth Mitchell is an actor with a wide range of credits, including films, television series and theaters. She broke her nose while filming of the film Frequency (2000).
