She was born on the 14th of August 1983 in Chernivtsi (now Ukraine) to the same Ukrainian Jewish mother and father. Mark Kunis, her mechanical engineer father, is employed as a taxi driver. Kunis is the elder sibling of Michael. Her grandparents were Holocaust survivors. Her mother tongue and the most spoken language in the family is Russian.
